What is a Tithi?
A Tithi is a lunar day — the time for the angular distance between Moon and Sun to increase by 12°. There are 30 Tithis in a lunar month, split into Shukla Paksha (waxing, Amavasya to Purnima) and Krishna Paksha (waning, Purnima to Amavasya).
